The Most Important Part of Wealth: You

David Wiedmeyer • August 26, 2024

Two weeks ago, I introduced the "Wealth Trifecta." In case you missed it, you can check it out [HERE].

The Wealth Trifecta is an idea of wealth that balances three key areas:

  • You
  • Relationships
  • Money

Today, I want to focus on the most important part: You.

But before we dive in, can I ask you a favor? Please share this post if this message resonates with you or someone you know. Let’s spread the word and help others find balance in their lives.

Now, let’s talk about you—one of the most complex “machines” ever created. What are we made of? You might think of cells or carbon, but let’s take a simpler view.

You are made of three parts:

  1. Physical
  2. Mental
  3. Spiritual

Each part needs attention, and the key is balance. If you focus only on your mind, your body suffers. If you focus only on your body, your spirit can weaken. And when your spirit is low, your mind suffers. This creates an endless spiral of imbalance and lack of fulfillment.

I’ve been there.

The pursuit of money, status, and materialistic things led me to ignore my health—and I paid for it.

  • Lack of energy.
  • Lack of fulfillment.
  • A constant doom loop.

But here’s the good news: You can break the cycle.

The Turning Point: Taking Care of You

Prioritizing my physical health has been a game-changer in my life. And I’m not alone—clients who neglect their health often end up wishing, praying, and paying for it later.

The stats are staggering:

  • Poor health accounts for 90% of the $4.5 trillion spent annually on healthcare, according to the CDC.
  • Physical inactivity alone costs the U.S. $117 billion!

And yet, getting active is one of the simplest ways to change your life. The Mayo Clinic recommends just 22 minutes of activity a day (150 minutes per week). That’s it! You can do that by simply taking a walk with loved ones after dinner. It’s good for your body, your relationships, and your finances.

Why?

The two largest expenses in retirement are taxes and medical costs. By focusing on your physical health now, you can reduce medical costs later—and save money.

The Power of Small Steps

Take it one step at a time. You don’t need to hit the gym for hours. Start with a small goal: 22 minutes of movement each day. And understand that you cannot pour from an empty cup. If you take care of yourself, it’ll be easier to help those around you.

Remember: fitness compounds just like interest. Stack the small successes, and you’ll build momentum.

Do you or someone you know need to focus on their health?

Share this blog with them, and let’s get started on the journey to better physical and financial health.

Stay Tuned for More

Over the next few weeks, we’ll unpack the rest of the Wealth Trifecta, diving deeper into relationships and money. But for now, focus on you—your physical well-being. Take that first step.

And as always, have an amazing week.
